Restaurant Week in Downtown DC

Calling all DC foodies! One of our city’s most popular foodie events is coming to Farmers & Distillers.

From Monday, January 16 – Sunday, January 22, 2023, the city will be enjoying the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington’s Winter Restaurant Week 2023, one of the most sought-after events of the season. Diners experience specially created lunch & dinner offerings for a limited time at participating restaurants all around town.

This year, we are offering Restaurant Week around our tables and yours.

Join Us for Restaurant Week in Our DC Restaurant

At Farmers & Distillers, we will be serving up our specially crafted three-course lunch ($25) and dinner ($40) menus.

We’re offering our Restaurant Week in-store guests a delightful selection of our favorites. Start with our famous Whirley Pop Kettle Corn, Handmade Dumplings, or one of our tasty small salads. For your second course, try one of our delicious burgers, ground in-house daily using local and regional all-natural beef, or feast on one of our guests’ all-time favorites, Southern Fried Chicken & Glazed Donut. 

Please note: Saturday, Sunday & Holiday Monday (MLK Day) brunch is excluded.

While beverages are not included, we hope you will enjoy one of our delicious scratch-made sodas or one of our craft cocktails from our Farmers & Distillers bar menu, featuring our very own spirits, made right here in our award-winning distillery, Founding Spirits.

Cherry Picking Spring’s Biggest Celebration at Farmers & Distillers

Each spring, a jubilee of pink blossoms abound in DC bringing visitors from near and far to celebrate our nation’s beautiful Cherry Blossoms. This year, our National Cherry Blossom Festival may be a little bit different but we are always delighted to share in the springtime spirit.

Whether you get to enjoy the cherry blossoms in person or virtually, we hope you will also partake in one of our cherry blossom specials:

Our bar teams have created a special handcrafted cocktail, the Cherry Julep, made with bourbon, mint, and cherry liqueur.  The Cherry Julep is available for $12 for our in-person diners and can also be purchased with to go food for $20 for a 16 ounce bottle. 

We also have a very special dessert: Double Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake with Almond Toffee Crunch.  The dessert will be available throughout the festival at all of our DC-area restaurants.

From March 20 through April 11, we will be showcasing our Cherry Blossom-themed picks across all of our DC-area restaurants the best way we know how – by serving up our scratch-made food and drink. Farmers & Distillers is partnering with the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington’s (RAMW) Cherry Picks program to celebrate the National Cherry Blossom Festival with special food and drink offerings for diners across our region.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival marks the beginning of spring in our nation’s capital with specially created programs around the Tidal Basin and our national monuments to promote arts and culture and to celebrate the natural beauty that surrounds us. These programs are designed to educate and inspire not only during the festival, but all year long. This year, many of the programs are available virtually.

However you get to enjoy this year’s National Cherry Blossom Festival, we hope you will join us or pick up our special cherry sip or sweet. If joining us on our patio or in our restaurant, we recommend making a reservation.

At the top of your list to try is our very own Mike V’s favorite, The Margarita 2019. Our love letter to the classic, ours is made with 100% agave tequila, cointreau, citrus, and egg white. We also have our Strawberry Ginger Margarita with blanco tequila, Patrón Citrónge, lime, strawberry, ginger juice, and mint. Our La Paloma will be made just for you to enjoy with tequila, grapefruit, lime, agave, and mezcal. Want to spice it up? Order our Spicy-Style La Paloma finished with our house-made chipotle syrup. And our signature The Clementine is a crowd-pleasing blend of clementine & chili-infused reposado tequila, bénédictine, maraschino, lime, cold-pressed pineapple, and agave.

Great Scratch-Made Menu Choices for our Vegan & Vegetarian Guests

At Farmers & Distillers we are committed to offering all of our guests a wide variety of scratch-made food and drink, whatever their culinary preferences and requirements. This includes many vegan and vegetarian options. 

Last week, we created a new Vegan & Vegetarian menu designed to make it easier for our vegan and vegetarian friends to find their perfect meal. With a delicious array of plant-based entrées, our new menu not only includes the plant-based Impossible™ Burger, but we’re also featuring a vegetarian Impossible™ Meatloaf, served with mashed potatoes and green beans, that can be made vegan upon request. And you can choose to have an Impossible™ Patty added to one of our grain bowls. Our tasty Quinoa Grain Bowl is a mix of bulgur, wheat berries, kale, brussels sprouts, cauliflower hummus, goji berries, and coconut nut butter. Our Farro Grain Bowl is made with black lentils, carrots, roasted eggplant & mushrooms, peanut butter, cashew butter, and pistachios. Other plant-based entrée choice includes our popular Cauliflower Steak and Spaghetti Squash Pomodoro.

This new Vegan & Vegetarian menu highlights some of our favorite vegan and vegetarian options, and all of our menus have a wider range of vegan and vegetarian options. Our servers are always happy to help our guests. We can provide suggestions and make adjustments, as needed, so every dish is just right for our vegan and vegetarian guests, and for all of our diners.

Celebrating our Neighborhood Traditions this Chinese New Year

At Farmers & Distillers, our Mt Vernon Square neighborhood offers our culinary team a wide array of inspiration, right here in the middle of downtown DC. We are lucky to have the cultural and culinary influence of our nearby Chinatown neighborhood to help guide our chefs when creating our menus.

We are celebrating that influence with the start of Chinese New Year on January 17th, which runs through February 8th. Marking the Year of the Rat, seen as a symbol of wealth and surplus, we will be celebrating with our neighborhood friends on Sunday, January 26, 2020, when downtown DC comes alive with the annual Chinese New Year Parade beginning at 2pm at 6th & Eye St NW, ending at 6th & H St NW.

As we sit just steps from the parade route, we invite you to join us for brunch before enjoying all the sights and sounds the parade has to offer – from the beautiful lion and dragon dances to the amazing Kung Fu demonstrations and traditional fireworks to live music, talented marching bands, and other community-based performers.

Or join us for dinner following your afternoon of revelry. We are serving plenty of delicious, scratch-made fare inspired by our neighborhood. From our Sticky Pork Riblets to our Pan-Fried Dumplings to our Hand-Pulled Noodles to our famous Chinese Fried Chicken, we have something for everyone. Continue the celebration with a sampling of our award-winning craft cocktails from our in-house distillery, Founding Spirits.

From enjoying our craft cocktails, featuring spirits made in-house at our Founding Spirits distillery, before a New Year’s Eve party to coffee and dessert after your DC masquerade ball dining and dancing, and everything in between, we’ve got you covered.

Spending your New Year’s Day with family checking out the holiday decorations or national landmarks dressed for the season only downtown DC can offer? Stop by before or after for brunch. We’re serving up our famous Farmers Market Buffet Brunch, of course with our signature First Bake Blend coffee, from 8:30am until 2pm.

All Aboard the Warmth Wagon with Tommy & Kelly

On one of our coldest winter days so far, Farmers & Distillers joined The Tommy Show and the Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) to raise awareness and funds to help people across the DMV keep warm.

Team members, Julie Sharkey and Emily Hough, joined the WAFF Warmth Wagon at the DowntownDC Holiday Market to hand out fresh-pressed apple cider and our hot First Bake Blend Drip Coffee. 

It was a great day and a great way to help our neighbors and help spread the word of the work that the WAFF does every day across the DMV to help area residents. We were happy to champion such a great cause, and also get the opportunity to once again partner with DC’s fun, charitable duo, and some of DC’s best citizens, radio personalities, Tommy McFly and Kelli Collis, of The Tommy Show. 

Across the district, one in five people live below the poverty line and are eligible for heating assistance, but there aren’t enough funds to meet the need. A long-standing partnership between Washington Gas and The Salvation Army USA, the Washington Area Fuel Fund provides local area families in need help with heating costs. In 2018 alone, the WAFF helped 8,000 families. Over the past 36 years, WAFF has contributed $29 million dollars to help 300,000 families stay warm during our cold DC area winters.

Exciting New Bar Menu at Farmers & Distillers

Jon Arroyo, Rachel Vistica, and their entire team are at it again, raising the bar on our city’s cocktail scene with a new drink menu at Farmers & Distillers. Our bartenders are handcrafting a whole host of new cocktails for our guests, featuring our DC-made Founding Spirits, including DC’s #1 local Vodka, and the official vodka of Capital One Arena, our award-winning Founding Spirits American Amaro, Founding Spirits American Whiskey, and soon-to-be-available, Founding Spirits Dry Gin. 

At the top of everyone’s need-to-try cocktail list is what we know will be the best Highball you’ve ever tasted. Handcrafted with the help of cutting-edge technology, our Suntory Highball Machine creates the perfect carbonation every time. Some have even said that the carbonation reminds them of their favorite bubbly. It is worth the trip to Farmers & Distillers for a taste of one of our truly great Highballs. We have a range of choices, from a traditional Tom Collins and our Clementine Cooler to a Proper Gin & Tonic and more, to accommodate everyone’s particular cocktail palette. Several of our Highballs are low in sugar and low in alcohol. 

The new menu also features forgotten classic cocktails, made modern with our craft- cocktail wizardry using our handcrafted spirits. We have reimagined the Cosmopolitan (now called “Sex and the City”), the Long Island Iced Tea (now called “Rosebud”), and the Trader Vic Mai Tai (now called “Maui Buck’s Mai Tai”). With new names, improved craft, and ingredients, guests will be delighted to take a trip with us down memory lane.

Farmers & Distillers is also now serving our popular – The Margarita 2019 – a labor of tequila love from Co-Owner, Mike V., Managing Partner, Kendra Ann Graves, and Bar Manager, Sarah Sutherland, which first debuted last spring at the bar at Farmers Fishers Bakers. A perfect balance of sweet & sour, The Margarita 2019 is made with 100% agave tequila and will likely be the best Margarita you have ever tasted; so light & refreshing, you’ll want more than one. 

The new drinks menu includes our Farm Classics, Martinis, a new wine and bubbly list, a great selection of beer, and some new non-alcoholic drinks, including sugar-free scratch seltzers. Don’t see anything you like? We offer a “Dealer’s Choice” that encourages our guests to talk to our bartenders to get a great cocktail, skillfully crafted just for them. As always, all of our drinks are handcrafted here using house-made syrups, bitters & elixirs, freshly squeezed juices, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, Founding Spirits specialty infusions, and more. We never use soda guns or plastic straws.

CAPS Hour at Farmers & Distillers

Farmers & Distillers is bringing back our famous CAPS Hour* to unleash our Washington Capitals gameday excitement. A quick walk to the Capital One Arena, stop by two hours before home games and join us for some serious Caps spirit. 

This week, our CAPS Hour celebrators got a visit from the Official Mascot of the Washington Capitals, Slapshot. He even jumped behind the bar to make a cocktail, took a tour with Distillery Manager, Bob VanLancker (pictured here with Slapshot), and helped us select the lucky winners for our giveaways, which included free Caps tickets, Ovi-themed gifts, including an authentic Ovechkin jersey and bobblehead, other Caps swag, and restaurant gift cards.

Since our distillery, Founding Spirits, is the Official Distillery of Caps Arena, Farmers & Distillers is THE place to be for your pre- and post-game festivities. We will be serving cocktails made with Cap One’s official Founding Spirits Vodka and our brand-new Founding Spirits Dry Gin. 

Try our Founding Spirits Rock the Red cocktail specially made with DC’s #1 local vodka, lime, raspberry, ginger, bitters, and a splash of soda.
