Restaurant Week is on!

We’re back at it: Restaurant Week is here for Summer 2019 and we are thrilled to participate once again.

Join us August 12th through August 18th at Farmers & Distillers as we welcome guests for this summer’s Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington’s (RAMW) Restaurant Week. This delicious and bargain-filled restaurant industry event is designed for guests to check out new restaurants or revisit old favorites.

We welcome our downtown DC Restaurant Week guests with our specially-crafted, three-course lunch for $22pp and dinner for $35pp. (Saturday & Sunday brunch is excluded.) Our Summer Restaurant Week 2019 menu features many of our Farmers & Distillers favorites. From our famous Whirley Pop Kettle Corn, Table Breads, and FF Glazed Bacon Lollies for starters to our delicious Chinatown Favorites, Handmade Pasta, and signature entrées to a choice of one of our select Farmers Donuts or a cone/cup of our hand-churned ice cream for dessert, we have lots of choose from. If you have no room after the first two courses, no worries: you will receive a gift card to use at your next visit.

While beverages are not included, we hope you will enjoy one of our delicious scratch-sodas or one of our craft cocktails made with our Founding Spirits, distilled right here in our in-house distillery.

Restaurant Week is a popular, annual DC event, so we suggest making your reservation today. We look forward to serving you for this summer’s Restaurant Week. If you can’t make it to Farmers & Distillers, join us at our participating sibling restaurants, Farmers Fishers Bakers and Founding Farmers.

Classic Cocktailing for a Cause

Help us celebrate the 100th anniversary of a truly iconic Italian cocktail, the Negroni, during Negroni Week from June 24th – June 30th. Dating back to 1919 when Count Camillo Negroni invented the classic Negroni cocktail, it has since become a mainstay on every great bartender’s menu of guest favorites.

As distillers and craft cocktail connoisseurs, our take on the Negroni is something very special. Taste for yourself as Farmers & Distillers participates in DC’s annual Negroni Week. We will be serving several handcrafted Negroni cocktails (specially priced at just $13 each) made with our award-winning Founding Spirits Arroyo’s “Never Bitter” Amaro:

  • Negroni Sour made with our Founding Spirits Arroyo’s “Never Bitter” Amaro, Founding Farmers Gin, Campari, lemon, orange, and egg white
  • Negroni Spritz made with Founding Spirits Arroyo’s “Never Bitter” Amaro, aperol, lemon, sparkling cava, and jerk soda
  • The Classic made with Founding Spirits Arroyo’s “Never Bitter” Amaro, Campari, and gin

Negroni Week was launched in 2013 by Imbibe Magazine and Campari to pay homage to the refreshing, unique, Negroni cocktail and raise money for global charities, Negroni Week has proved so successful, it has raised approximately $2 million to date for various charities worldwide and has grown from 120 industry participants to almost 10,000 partners around the globe.

Farmers & Distillers is participating in Negroni Week, along with our downtown DC sibling restaurants, Founding Farmers DC and Farmers Fishers Bakers, and donating a portion of our weeklong event proceeds to No Kid Hungry. As longtime supporters of No Kid Hungry, we’re proud to continue to support their efforts to end childhood hunger.

Join us June 24th through June 30th for Negroni Week, and support No Kid Hungry by enjoying one of our specially crafted Negroni cocktails. It’s that simple.

Make a reservation for dinner to make your Negroni Week even better. Or book a Tour & Tasting for a sneak peak behind the scenes of our Founding Spirits distillery, right here at Farmers & Distillers.

Our spirits are also sold at our bar, at DC local area retailers, and online, should you want to try your hand at making a Negroni at home.

Farmers & Distillers Supports No Kid Hungry

This week, our Farmers & Distillers team once again joined forces with some of DC’s finest chefs, bartenders, and sommeliers at the Taste of the Nation event, all with one common mission: to support No Kid Hungry and their workto end childhood hunger in America.

Each year, Taste of the Nation hosts fundraising events across the U.S. to raise much-needed support to help ensure that our nation’s children get the healthy food and nutrition they ought to, every day. We were honored to represent our scratch-made, farmer-owned food and drink concept that is Farmers & Distillers at the National Building Museum for this year’s festivities.

Chef Nick and Chef Eric (pictured) served up a house favorite, our Good All Green salad with a couple special additions: a tasty, Farmers feta cheese and some plancha-spiced chicken. Event goers followed the delicious aroma of our chef’s plancha-spiced chicken and were delighted with the added layer of flavor it gave our Good All Green salad of mixed greens, broccolini, avocado, green apple, green beans, and toasted seeds, topped with a fresh lemon vinaigrette. Our special, salty Farmers cheese sprinkled on top was a brined Feta imported directly from Greece just for the event. Our salad, which was gluten-free and modified on the spot for dairy-free and vegetarian revelers, was a big hit… and so was our table. Our chefs loved serving all of the guests who returned for more.

For those who enjoyed our offering at DC’s Taste of the Nation, come by Farmers & Distillers for another taste, as our Good All Green salad is available every day on our Lunch & Dinner menu. Enjoy it as is in the restaurant or add herb chicken, steak, salmon, tuna, shrimp, or scallops to your liking. As always, we recommend making a reservation.

A special night of tasting and fun was had by all. Great cause and great food & drink. We’re already looking forward to next year!

CAPS Hour! CAPS Hour! #ALLCAPS Hour All the Way to the Game

Hey, DC Caps fans. It’s officially NHL Playoff Hockey season and we are so ready to Unleash the Fury that is DC hockey. We can’t shout out our excitement enough. To gear up for the playoff games and support our Stanley Cup champs and all of their awesome fans, we’re hosting a CAPS Hour at Farmers & Distillers.

Or if you prefer, for the earlier playoff games, come by after the game. Our CAPS Hour specials are offered two hours before our hometown heroes hit the ice AND two hours after the hockey playoff games end, if during our regular business hours.

Need easy parking for the game? Our neighboring garage is the perfect place away from the Capital One Arena fray. Park, enjoy our CAPS Hour, and rock your red all the way to the game.

Let’s do this again, DC! Let’s win the Stanley cup two years in a row. #ALLCAPS. All the time.

Unleash the Fury: Our Stanley Cup Champs are Playoffs Bound!

Red, Red Wine. What better way to Rock the Red than with a fruit-forward pinot noir or a full-bodied cabernet sauvignon from our extensive wine list? We’re proud to offer selections from vintners who align with our values and follow sustainable, organic, and biodynamic practices. If you’re with a larger group, check out the winning line-up featured on our Director’s List for bottles specially chosen by our very own Jon Arroyo.

Get Your Cold Beer, Here! If you are more of a beer person, especially on hockey game nights, our beer program has something for everyone. With multiple taps, choices from light to bold, lagers to ales, we make it easy to choose one of your favorites or try a new brew.

Winning Cocktails on Ice. It only seems fitting to cheer on our hometown heroes with our award-winning Founding Spirits Arroyo’s “Never Bitter” Amaro. Distilled and bottled at our in-house distillery, our cocktail menu is chock-full of unique amaro craft cocktails like the Amaro Daiquiri or Negroni Swizzle.

Snack on Some Starters. Our beef & pork Meatballs are must-haves. Ground in-house and made from scratch, our Meatballs are topped with our delicious, homemade red sauce. And on the assist, try our Parmesan Garlic Knots, served with a savory roasted tomato-basil chutney, with whipped ricotta. Or feast on a selection of our famous Farm Breads, FF Glazed Bacon Lollies, or Ahi Tuna Bites.

Indulge in a House Favorite. It wouldn’t be a sporting event without a fresh n’ juicy burger. Try our All-American double patty burger or enjoy our Baby Macs, Shake & Fries. But, let’s remember… anything can happen in post-season hockey. Conquer the no-longer-impossible (since we already brought home the Stanley cup, after all) with our IMPOSSIBLE Burger, made entirely from plants for people who love meat. And don’t skip out on our house-made fries and chips, we promise they won’t disappoint.

Save Room for Dessert. Donuts + Cherry Pie = Win. There are other choices too, but for game night, we’re thinking these are our favorite picks.

Come join us. Farmers & Distillers is an easy walk to Capital One Arena. We’re close by two metro stops (Gallery Place-Chinatown that serves the red, yellow & green lines + Mt Vernon Square, serving the green & yellow Lines). Or if you drive, parking is easy at Farmers & Distillers in our neighboring garage

We’ll be Rocking the Red all post-season long, and hope you will too. Cheers to good drinks, great food, and our Stanley Cup champs. Unleash the Fury that is DC hockey.

Great American Food & Donuts for Opening Day at Nationals Park

Avoid the throngs of fans near Nationals Park this year as the Washington Nationals take on the New York Mets on Opening Day, March 28th. Instead, come by Farmers & Distillers before or after the big game for some of the best American food and drink that DC has to offer.

Our burgers are the best in town, and there are so many choices. Try our All-American Double Cheeseburger or a complete meal of Baby Macs, Shake & Fries or our popular IMPOSSIBLE Burger, made entirely from plants for people who love meat.

If you don’t want a burger, try some of our other scratch-made, American family favorites, such as our Farm Breads and chicken wings, Handmade Pasta and Steak House classics, as well as our FF Fish, Chips & Beer dish served with a short white beer for a great sampling of our incredible, 24-tap beer program. Our Whirley Pop Kettle Corn will surely give you a taste for the ballpark. We will also have very special Opening Day Farmers Donuts. Or if you want to wrap up your meal with some traditional American treats, try our delicious Cherry or Caramel Apple pie, complete with our hand-churned vanilla ice cream.

We are in it to win it at Farmers & Distillers this Washington Nationals Opening Day. From the food and drink to sidelining the crowds and long waits to the easy commute to and from the ballpark. We recommend making a reservation to ensure a hassle-free, great time.

Park easily in the lot near Farmers & Distillers and walk the two blocks to the green line at the Gallery Place Chinatown stop and metro over to the stadium or come see us after the big game.

If you can’t make it for Opening Day, there are many other games to take in this baseball season, and Farmers & Distillers is a great way take in some pre- or post-game fun, without all the guff.

Irish Pop & Irish Brew

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, but on our corner, we’re already celebrating.

Farmers & Distillers is offering a special St. Patrick’s Day bar menu that includes the perfect match-up, an Irish Pop & Irish brew, aka Irish whiskey and beer, as well as a handful of cocktails inspired by Irish whiskies and ales, and a special tap takeover from two local draft breweries: Flying Dog’s Lucky SOB Irish Red Ale brewed in Maryland and O’Connor’s Dry Irish Stout made in Virginia.

We also have some pretty special casks of Irish whiskey in store as well. Tullamore D.E.W. XO Rum Cask Finish and Tullamore D.E.W Cider Cask Finish are at our bar. Both are crafted in Ireland. Both are equally delicious in their own ways. It’s a good thing you have more than one day to enjoy them.

Stop by Farmers & Distillers anytime now through Sunday, and get a little taste of Ireland.

Come for lunch, after work, or make it a great, Irish-inspired date night and stay for dinner. We promise we won’t pinch you if you aren’t wearing green.

Exclusive Pilsner Urquell Brew at Farmers & Distillers

Last night, we shared a very special unfiltered brew created by the expert brewers at historic Pilsner Urquell. This exclusive brew, Pilsner Urquell Nefiltrovaný, was flown all the way from the Czech Republic especially for us. We are the only bar in the DC metro featuring this remarkable Pilsner Urquell brew.

The free tasting featured lots of beer samples and special pours, beer expertise, and even branded mugs and additional swag from our Pilsner Urquell partners. But most important of all, guests got an exclusive taste from the legendary pilsner giant.

The 175 year-old Pilsner Urquell brewery, located in a remote town in the Czech Republic, is widely known as the creator of the very first pilsner lager, the most popular golden brew on the planet, which has been adopted and adapted over the years by breweries around the globe. If you like lager, you can thank Pilsner Urquell. Our Beverage Director, Jon Arroyo, made the trek to the brewery and said, “I can die now,” after tasting their lager directly from the cask in the cavern where it’s brewed.

It goes without saying that Jon and his team are delighted to be able to share this special, original taste with our guests.

This spectacular pilsner is still available at Farmers & Distillers, as long as our special delivery lasts.

Of course, Farmers & Distillers is usually known for its distillery, Founding Spirits, and our tasty craft cocktails, but we have a pretty rockin’ beer program as well. With multiple taps, our program is styled from light to bold, lagers and ales, making it easy for guests to not only navigate their favorites, but also try something new. We serve our beer upon order, by the glass, generally ranging from $8 to $10 for a 10 oz to 16 oz pour.

Stop by for a taste of the special pilsner, while supplies last… or any of our tasty brews.

Farmers & Distillers Unique Beer Program

At Farmers & Distillers, and across our company, we have a unique and robust beer program. Developed with our source-matters, high-quality, earth-friendly mission in mind, we most often partner with like-minded breweries that care not only about great tasting beer, but also about the importance of their ingredients and operating sustainably.

Our Beverage Director, Jon Arroyo, and Assistant Beer Director & Bar Manager, Melinda Koepke (both pictured), are always on the look out for new partners and tasty new brews. We work to provide an array of brands, some highly recognizable and some not. We have cultivated long-term partnerships with Devils Backbone and Flying Dog who also pursue responsibly minded business practices. Their brews can usually be found in our taps. In addition, we serve selections from the brew masters at:

  • Sierra Nevada, including an as yet to be rescheduled Sierra Nevada beer dinner, which will feature five of the brewery’s favorites perfectly paired with our delicious, scratch-made food.
  • Hellbender, noted as the first brewery on the East Coast to invest in a mash filter, which radically increases efficiency, allowing this smart brewhouse to brew around 25% faster from start to finish, while using about 18% less grain and 30% less water per batch than most breweries in the world.
  • Warsteiner, an impressive ninth-generation, family-owned premium brewery, world renowned as the originators of the Bavarian Purity Law, a major turning point in beer brewing history and most notably the founding family of Germany’s famed Oktoberfest. We feature their Konig Ludwig Weissbier beer, one of the first “hefeweizen” beers ever brewed.

Our bar houses multiple taps, styled from light to bold, lagers and ales, giving guests some ease in navigating their go-to beers and inspiring them to try something new and different. Beers are served by the glass, generally from $8 to $10 for a 10 oz to 16 oz pour.

Farmers & Distillers may be best known for our craft cocktails using small-batch spirits from our very own in-house distillery, Founding Spirits, but we think our beer program is pretty awesome too.

Come in and check out our beer menu (and our fun bar-specials chalkboard) or ask our bartenders and servers what we have on tap. And stay for a meal. We promise, you won’t be disappointed. As always, we recommend making a reservation.
